The concert on January 23rd by the Infinite Lights Ensemble presented masterful musicians accompanied by a clear-as-a-bell soprano creating new works based in ancient traditions. The ensemble was flawless, encompassing a delightful evening of musical magic.....John Molloy
Last month, at West End Collegiate Church, my wife and I experienced Jewish Liturgical music through the compositions by Ken Corneille incoporating jazz, klezmer and classical music idioms. The Infinite Lights Ensemble formed and directed by Mr. Corneille, immerses the listener in the contemplative atmosphere of a traditional Shabbat service along with visceral outbursts of joyous exaltation. Am innovative program of tradition reimagined.....Eric Smith
I had the pleasure of attending a truly unique and inspiring concert by the Infinite Lights Ensemble, the brainchild of Ken Corneille, who serves as both Music Director and keyboardist. Ken's understanding of both Jewish and Chjristian liturgy shines through every note, as the ensemble carefully imagines, crafted by him. The music was eclectic and deeply moving, blending the warmth of a soprano voice, flute/piccolo, Bb clarinet, tenor saxophone, acoustic guitar, bass and percussion into a tapestry of sound that fewlt both spiritual and transcendent. Ken has an incredible ability to bring out the best in each musician, allowing to collaborate in a way that creates a truly unusual and mesmerizing sound. It was more than a concert, it was an experience, one that uplifted and transported the audience. I look forward to hearing more from this remarkable group!.....Rabbi and Cantor Steve Blane...founder and spiritual leader of Congregation Sim Shalom, International Jewish Universalist Community.
The concert that I attended with my wife and my brother and his wife, on the evening of January 23rd at West End Collegiate Church was an unexpected delight. The music ranged from Sacred to lively Secular Jewish music that made you feel like getting up and dancing. The musicians complemented each other beautifully and the vocalist was truly spectacular. My wife and I, along with my brother and his wife thoroughly enjoyed the concert and highly recommend the Infinite Lights Ensemble's music to everyone.....Pat Caldon
I recently had the pleasure of immersing myself in the joyous music of an Infinite Lights Ensemble Liturgical Music performance. It was on a Friday night in a church in Ridgewood, New Jersey...how wonderful! While it was Shabbat and I was not at synagogue, I was transported by the beauty of hearing music I had grown up with in a different and beautiful way with new compositions as well. Thank you, Infinite Lights!.....Linda Bradley from Barnert Temple in Franklin Lakes.
As a minister in the Presbyterian Church(USA), I've never seen a lot of PR from no doubt excellent musical groups looking for an audience among the faith. Infinite Lights Ensemble is beyond excellent. I experienced their program delightfully and unexpectantly, Jewish litugical music by Ken Corneille at a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Ridgewwod, New Jersey. I can highly recommend their combination of spirit and joy! The performers themselves shine with a radiance that comes from the heart. I've shared my enthusiam about ILE with my Rabbi friends and urged them to consider ILE if you have an ocassion to invite a musical group for a special program, no matter what your spiritual tradition!......Jack Lohr from Hawthorne, New Jersey.
Inifinite Lights is a joy to behold!.....Phyllis Cohen from River Edge, New Jersey.
Dolores and I very much enjoyed the Infinite LIghts Ensemble's January 23rd, 2025 performance. Both of us are more "spiritual than religious, but we know and appreciate that music itself, and history in general, transcend the religious context noted in the concert's program. Though it was quite cold outside, there was a warm environment inside the West End Collegiate Church. The assortment of instruments and obvious talents were enjoyable from the start. We both greatly apprciated the woman performer who introduced each piece presented, including its historical background, its londevity in Jewish culture and Ken's interpretations of each piece. Lastly, we were happy to bring three members of our family to the concert, in addition to seeing several friends in the audience........Dan O'Connor, from Belleport, Long Island.
Ken Corneille is up to something special with the Infinite Lights Ensemble. The eight musicians who comprise the ensemble bring with them a rich variety of influences, evident in both their playing and the arrangements. Jazz, classical, klezmer and more come together in a surprisingly natural way: rather dabbling in genres, Infinite Lights Ensemble blends these influences so thoroughly as to trivialize the very notion of genre boundaries. Voice, woodwinds, piano, guitar, bass and percussion collaborate to produce something entirely new. In their concert at West End Collegiate Church, the musical performance was interspersed with narration that guided the audience through the structure, meaning and history of Shabbat in a way that felt expansively invitational to the mutifaith community that had gathered. To be welcomed into the deep heart of another's tradition is a generous gift, not always one easily given, but accomplished beautifully here through the universal power of music...........Matt Puckett Program Director at West End Collegiate Church.
