Fontana Unified School District
Career Technical Education: Public Service Pathway Fire and EMS
Fontana High School
Our Program features both didactic and pedagogy teaching methods to help our students learn about a career pathway in Fire and Emergency Medical Services. Our program offers a realistic approach to a career in Fire and EMS by introducing our students to the roles and responsibilities of Fire and EMS.
The Public Service Pathway-Fire and EMS Programs align with the mission statements of Fontana Unified School District and Fontana High School. Our programs offers the opportunity to learn in a comprehensive learning environment where students will learn the importance of character development such as accountability, respect, collaboration and leadership. Our program focuses on the preparation of our student cadets for success in college, career, and life while establishing meaningful partnerships with families and communities to support student achievement in and out of school.
Our 1-year goal is to continue our program growth thru student enrollment. We currently have 157 students enrolled. We would like to grow that to over 200 students.
Our 3-year goal would be to add a 3rd year to our 2-year pathway program. Our 3rd year would emphasize on wildland fire. This would allow students to continue on their desired pathway for a 3rd year.
Our long-term goal would be to add a Saturday Program like our Law Enforcement partners. This would allow other students within the district that are interested in Fire and EMS to attend a Saturday class and attain the same desired outcome that our students receive during our midweek program.
