Zapotec people's culture can change due to habitat- mountian, valley, or coastal. Crafts are prscticed in areas, such as pottery, weaving, and palm-fibre weaving. Clothing for Zapotec women can consist of long skirts, long overtunic called Huipil, and shawl or wreparound headpiece. Male clothing consists of loose trousers; loose shirt, sometimes with pleats, and sandals. They would wear straw or wool hats to have protectiong from the sun.
Huipils are common in a variety through Indigenus communities in Mexico and Central America, so designs can indicate the garment's orgin. Daily huipils are woven on backstrap looms, but the Isthmus Zapotec use black velvet for special occasions.
Made from wool, dyes with natural dyes such as plants seed. Indigo for blue, pericon for yellow. Zapotec people use looms to make shawls.
