A combination oftrade cloth shirts and buckskins leggings and even skirt especially worn towards the 1800s. By mid 1800s, many Cherokees adopted European fashions to add to their traditional clothing. Linen shirts, deerskin moccaisns, and leggings. Accessories are silver gorgets, armbands, and earrings. You can see today's Cherokees wear modern clothing. The style of cherokee clothing changes as they assimilate into American soceity.

Cherokee would think of the feather of an eagle as the highest symbol and a mark of respect. It is something they earn through courage. A cherokee warrior can earn it by bringing honor to their tribe. Political and diplomatic acts also brought honor to a Cherokee warrior. As a person earns the eagle feather they incorporate it into their regalia. Worn during important events like ceremonies and only the most brave and powerful of the tribe were given the honor of wearing headdresses.
