ITOSS Benefits

There are many benefits to using ITOSS for using ITOSS to permit on-site sewage systems. Expand the collapsible groups below to learn more.

Parcel Record Consolidation

The ITOSS application allows local health departments to keep all records for a parcel in one spot with easy access to all on-site sewage system records, including those that may be initially submitted in hard copy form.

The ITOSS application can also provide all records for a single parcel in one location even if there are multiple residences and/or commercial facilities on one lot or if there are multiple on-site sewage systems on the lot.

Historical Data

ITOSS keeps all records for each parcel together, allowing for easy display of the property history including older permits, repairs or replacements, and all sewage-producing structures on the parcel.  Permits that were issued prior to ITOSS implementation may be entered into ITOSS to complete the history for each parcel.

Access

ITOSS has the capability of being taken to the field on a tablet for use during inspections and investigations.  As many or as few health department staff can have access to ITOSS to add, edit, or view information and save attachments.  This is beneficial when multiple staff work in the local on-site sewage system program.

Range

ITOSS can house both residential and commercial permit and complaint information. ITOSS uses rule-based terminology and allows for use with any type of on-site sewage system that is currently approved in Indiana.

Health Department Use

All local data entered into ITOSS can be compiled into statewide reports for analysis and to support data-driven decisions.

If a local health department needs IDOH assistance with a soil report, plan, or file, IDOH field staff can easily view the data in ITOSS and provide that assistance without the local staff having to copy, email, or photograph files to send to the IDOH staff. Each local health department jurisdiction only has access to data entered in their jurisdiction.
