Jennifer Tipton started homeschooling her children ten years ago when she and her husband decided that the public school system was not the best placement for their developmentally delayed daughter. She has spent those years learning how to teach a non verbal child and how to adapt a lesson plan so that her daughter can learn in the ways that are best for her. That experience taught her that children learn best when allowed to explore a subject at their own pace while being guided gently through the lessons. Her educational goals are to help students to make meaningful connections with the subject material, rather than to rigidly follow guidelines and benchmarks. She studied Art History in college and worked in Early Childhood Education for 17 years before retiring in order to take on the role of full time caretaker as her oldest daughter begins to transition to adulthood. She is an avid gardener and an amateur forager and enjoys knitting whenever she can.

Hello! My name is Ms. Jen and I am excited to teach Health & Life Skills to our amazing learners. I am a mom of four children and this will be my second year homeschooling my two youngest children, one with autism and ADHD. Prior to homeschooling, I earned a BA in Psychology with a concentration on Child & Adolescent Development and worked as a teaching assistant/student aid with AACPS. During my time, I loved working with neurodivergent learners and finding creative ways to meet their needs. As a special needs parent myself, I find it fulfilling to create a safe learning space for all students. In my free time, I enjoy cross stitching, reading manga, and playing video games with my friends and family.
Hello All! I have two children and have been homeschooling in AACo for 8 years now. I work from home full time as a fraud analyst and am in the process of finishing my degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Positive Psychology. As a former school teacher I know the importance of meeting children where they are vs. where a developmental chart says they should be and enjoy adapting lessons to different learning styles so that each child has the opportunity to connect with information in their own unique way. In my downtime, I love reading, going to concerts, and walking our dogs around the neighborhood. I look forward to getting to know your family and growing our community over the next school year!
