Our fab volunteers are still putting this page together, however we have made a start...
You're a young carer if you're under 18 and help to look after a relative with a disability, illness, mental health condition, or drug or alcohol problem.
If you're a young carer, you probably look after one of your parents or care for a brother or sister.
You may do extra jobs in and around the home, such as cooking, cleaning or helping someone get dressed and move around.
You may also give a lot of physical help to a parent, brother or sister who's disabled or ill.
Along with doing things to help your brother or sister, you may be giving them and your parents emotional support, too.

Arrange a visit to a residential care home to find out about caring for those in need. Listen to the stories of residents and find out abut their childhood memories. Talk to a member of staff about their duties and the joys and challenges of caring for others. Remember to risk assess the visit.
Friendships are especially important for Young Carers as they often have much less time to spend away from those they care for. Spend five minutes collecting ideas for looking after and supporting friends. Challenge the Scouts/Explorers to put one of their ideas into practise in the coming week.
