In Altum

In Altum is designed so that there is almost nothing to write here. There are no accounts, no servers of ours, and no analytics. This page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- In Altum does not collect, transmit or store any personal information.
- There is no account and nothing to sign up for.
- There is no analytics software and no advertising identifier in the app.
- Sessions are composed on your device, not requested from a server.
- If you turn the microphone on, the audio is processed on your device, never recorded, and never leaves your phone.
Information we collect
None.
In Altum has no user accounts, no sign-up, no login and no profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, date of birth, location or phone number, and we have no way to identify you.
Information stored on your device
The app stores the following locally, on your device only:
- Your chosen intents, session length, background sound and any words you have asked never to hear.
- A record of sessions you have run — when, how long, which intent, and whether you finished.
- Whether you have granted microphone or health permissions.
This data stays on your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to our servers, or shared with anyone, because we operate no servers. It is included in your own encrypted iPhone or iCloud backup if you have one, which is under your control and Apple's, not ours. Deleting the app removes all of it permanently.
Microphone
Microphone access is optional and switched off by default. The app is fully functional without it.
If you turn it on, In Altum listens for the fact that a sound occurred near you — a door, a passing vehicle, a voice — so that a session can acknowledge it instead of carrying on as if nothing happened.
- There is no speech recognition. The app does not know what was said and cannot know.
- Audio is analyzed in small fragments in memory and discarded within milliseconds.
- No audio is written to storage and no audio is transmitted anywhere. The app contains no networking code in its audio path.
You can revoke this permission at any time in iOS Settings.
Health data
If you have a paired Apple Watch and choose to allow it, In Altum reads your heart rate during a session in order to pace the breathing guide to your body rather than to a fixed number.
- Heart rate is read only while a session is running.
- Nothing is written back to the Health app.
- Health data is never transmitted off your device and is never shared with anyone.
- The app is fully functional without health access.
Health data is used only to provide the feature you switched it on for. It is never used for advertising, marketing, analytics or any other purpose, and it is not shared with third parties.
Analytics, tracking and advertising
There are none. In Altum contains no analytics software, no crash-reporting service of ours, no advertising identifiers and no tracking of any kind. We do not build a profile of you, because we have no information from which to build one.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, your name or your email address. Apple tells the app only whether an active purchase exists on the device — nothing more. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Children
In Altum is not directed at children and we knowingly collect no information from anyone, of any age. Hypnosis sessions are intended for adults.
Your rights
Because we hold no information about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or erase. If you are in the EU, UK, California or anywhere with comparable data protection law: the reason we cannot fulfill an access or erasure request is that no data exists to fulfill it with. Deleting the app deletes everything the app ever held.
Changes
If the app ever begins to collect data — for example if optional cloud sync is added in a future version — this page will be updated before that version is released, and the change will be described in the App Store release notes rather than made quietly.
