We followed an iterative design process where learners were initially tested with a low-fidelity paper prototype. User feedback and experience were noted during the testing session to develop the features for our next higher fidelity, interactive prototype. The cycle of testing learners repeatedly and developing the different features has been a part of our entire design process.

Paper Prototype Testing

Digital Prototype Testing

Paper Prototype

We showed our paper prototype to seven MEITE students and Dr. Ryoo. They assessed whether the alignment between our learning objective and the prototype were matching and provided some great design feedback!

We noted questions and expressions of our learners while they experimented with our prototype.

  • "Could you include a timeline and filters on the mentor's path?"
  • "Can you filter mentors by interest?"
  • "What if instead of network, you call it resources?"

For our second interactive digital prototype, we made changes to our content and added additional features based on user observation and feedback from the initial paper prototype testing.

Interactive Digital Prototype

Interactive Digital Prototype

Users interacted with an interactive digital prototype which was designed in the form of a website. New features were added keeping the learner's feedback from initial paper prototype testing in mind.

  • "What can I do with the search tab?"
  • "Can I build a personalized path based on what I learn from mentors?"

For our final prototype, we up-scaled our prototype by adding additional requirements that came up from our second learner testing. We maintained the same wire-frame and added more pages to demonstrate our features well.

  • We refined the "Filter By" to make the feature more personalized for users.
  • We refined our search filter to make the platform intuitive for our learners.
