I’ve noticed that whether I’m at a family gathering, with friends, or even among strangers, I can handle conversations with ease especially when speaking to people older than me. I only realized this after I started working; in my previous role as a retail assistant at a pharmacy, I developed the confidence and communication skills that now help me connect with others naturally.
During high school, I realised that I was quite stubborn I often chose to follow my own thoughts rather than listening to others. As I grew older, I learned the importance of listening, because sometimes other people’s opinions truly matter and can shape the direction of my future.
I previously worked as a contract staff for four months, with the same responsibilities and shifts as regular employees. I had to fulfill 45 hours a week, often working from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. At the time, I had just graduated high school at 17, so balancing the workload was challenging. On top of that, I was also in the process of obtaining my driver’s license, which made things even more stressful. Despite the difficulties, I managed to handle it all and grew through the experience until I eventually entered college
I remember one time during driver day when there were many cartons to handle. While trying to get an item for a customer, I accidentally knocked over a red carton containing poison, which caused a cut on my skin. Aside from that incident, working as a retail assistant often left me with constant back, neck, and leg pain from having to stand for almost 12 hours straight.
