An Exploratory Data Analysis into Nigerian Road Accidents in 2023
Car, Motorbike and Minibus were involved in more accident than others. Commercial vehicles had the highest rate of accident at 67.73%, followed by Private vehicles.
A greater percentage of the Casualties were Male Adult, accounting for 73.30% of Injured. Although lesser people were killed, 90.2% of the recorded accidents were severe.
Abuja experienced the highest level of accidental cases with 1347 records, followed by Ogun State while Bayelsa State recorded the least cases at 21. Speed Violation is prominent in Ogun State and Abuja.
Across all 4 quarters, more people were involved in the road accident on the 4th quarter, while the 3rd quarter was the least. Speed Violation is the major cause of road Accidents; followed by Sign Light Violation, then Wrongful Overtaking.
