Financial assistance

Coordinator(s): Satyadev Nandakumar (satyadev@iitk), Raghunath Tewari (rtewari@iitk), Anurag Gupta (ag@iitk)

This message is only for the residents of IITK campus.

The purpose of this initiative is to financially help the families of mess workers, sanitation workers, residents of Type I housing and any campus resident who is facing financial hardship related to hospitalization and medical expenses related to COVID.

The requests can be made directly on the Telegram group or over phone (number).

The process for financial assistance is as follows.

  1. Forward a request either directly or through another person like a faculty member.

  2. Mention an account number to accept donations.

  3. A volunteer verifies the Covid certificate and other documentation

  4. Donors can directly contribute to the accounts.

We suggest that instead of making your entire contribution to one person, you split your donation evenly among all the needy.

It is unfortunately not possible to provide tax-related certificates for these donations.

Requests

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well,

It is with deep sorrow I would like to inform you about the sad demise of the Father of Mr. Farhan Khan (Hall-7 Mess Worker) due to COVID-19 on 22nd April 2021. His father had also served IIT Kanpur as a mess worker and retired in 2016. I am at a loss for words about this grief that we all share as a community and individuals. This is proving to be a trying time for all of us.

Further, his wife, Hasina Bano, is suffering from "End-Stage Kidney Failure" and has to undergo a kidney transplant at Jupiter Hospital, Thane. The overall expense estimated by the hospital is around INR 10,00,000/-. His mother is also a cancer patient and recently had surgery at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.

I have attached all the documents provided by Farhan related to his wife's and mother's treatment. Also, I have enclosed his father's death certificate issued by the hospital.

Looking at his family's grim situation and the financial burden, I request financial assistance for him. Also, I request you to kindly circulate this mail to the entire IITK community as each small contribution is important.

For further information, you may contact Mr. Farhan Khan @ 7505755544.

I am grateful for your help and good wishes.
