The International Indigenous Growers Learning Exchange (IIGLE) was a virtual cohort comprised of a series of virtual gatherings to bring Indigenous farmers and growers from the Peruvian Andes and the Southwestern United States together to provide a space for peer-to-peer learning and knowledge exchange about Indigenous agriculture, growing practices, culturally important foods, and changing growing conditions.
The Learning Exchange was co-led by the Universidad Para el Desarollo Andino (The University for Andean Development, UDEA), the Coordinadora de Ciencia y Tecnología en los Andes (Science and Technology Coordinator in the Andes, CCTA), and the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals at Northern Arizona University. This cohort ended in June 2025.
To increase the climate resilience of Indigenous farmers and landscapes across the Americas (North, Central, and South) through the exchange of agricultural practices including Traditional Ecological Knowledges.
To reconnect Indigenous communities and their knowledges across the Americas and create opportunities for peer-to-peer Indigenous Farmer knowledge exchange.
The Learning Exchange was an interactive series of 2-hour long virtual gatherings over the course of several months during 2024-2025, that connected Indigenous farmers and growers from Peru and the Southwestern United States. Gatherings will included facilitated talking circles, presentations from Indigenous knowledge holders, and grower share-outs.
