A rebuild of a horse hair sporran. This was a Liverpool Scottish (military regiment) sporran that I rebuilt into an elegant, civilian design. All the leatherwork is new and by me and the silver crest was made by David Dittmer of Cousin Dave Trade Silver
Clockwise from upper left:
Brown elk hide, black bear fur, Angora goat, black cow hide, seal fur, muskrat fur.
Another bag rebuild from the orginal muskrat bag I made for this cantle. I built and added a "targe" to create a furred "hunting sporran."
I skinned and tanned the hide myself. The form for the head was not a modern taxidermy form but rather I hand carved it from a piece of birchwood. I found some antique glass eyes which I used as I did my "taxidermy" work. For the remainder of the leather, I chose the historical option of using bark tanned deer hide. This hide was tanned with willow bark by Sylvain Ouellet of Quebec.
I skinned, tanned, and made this sporran like the above raccoon. The head form is hand-carved birch and the eyes are antiques.
MOD Mk2 sporran cantle rebuild and re-bag with willow bark tanned deerskin.
Not a sporran but similar in skills to create, this is a medieval girdle pouch that I made. I also carved the antler stamp for tooling the flap.
