About the Group

Located at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) the Integrated History and Philosophy of Science (iHPS) research group reflects on the many approaches to the history and philosophy of science from an interdisciplinary standpoint. The main aim of the group is to conduct research that explicitly calls for a unified perspective that combines the methods, styles and traditions of both disciplines.

Researchers working in the group come from diverse disciplinary backgrounds, ranging from theoretical physics to the history of the biological sciences through analytical philosophy.

The main research interests of the group's members range from classical philosophical questions, such as the problem of scientific pluralism, to the most historiographical issues, such as the recalcitrancy of epistemic objects in the history of science. These topics are addressed from an interdisciplinary and integrative approach in which philosophical reflection is made in close contact with historical analysis.
