Fieldwork FAQs

A. You need 540 hours. Students who are completing a hybrid model of their fieldwork experience will complete 270 hours.

A. Reach out to your IGP Region Lead and keep them posted on all of your progress/updates.  

A. Contact your IGP Language Mentor/408 instructor of record ASAP about your options. You may inquire about identifying a cultural opportunity to close the gap (140 max cultural hours) or earning a temporary grade of "Incomplete". 

A. YES! You are earning your 408 credit to go towards your language degree. It is the heart of our program and what you've been working towards. It will be exhausting, so be prepared and be to sure rest, hydrate and take care of yourself!

A. Yes. We recommend keeping a time log to help you track your progress and reflections. See Fieldwork Experience and talk with your IGP Language Mentor for more details.

A. You will be enrolled in 12 units of ASN|FRE|GER|JPN|SPA  408 at NAU (unless you are a dual degree student/completing a Hybrid fieldwork experience). You do not need do enroll in courses at your host institution, unless your host institution requires you to enroll in a specific fieldwork class. If you need to enroll in a course, be sure to inform your EA advisor.
