Alpha Tau Omega

Who is ATO?

Within our fraternity, some of our key values include, leadership, scholarship, and brotherhood with many opportunities to develop these through national conferences and events. Service, networking, and philanthropy are also values we hold dear. Our fraternity was founded following the American Civil War in an attempt to “contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found”. Our chapter is run with an executive board of 9 members, with the entire chapter being a part of other various leadership roles. In 2013, our chapter earned the highest award from our National Organization, True Merit, for our continued development as a chapter on campus and within the community in terms of service, scholarship, and philanthropy. And as recently as last year we earned True Merit Honorable both of which are difficult to achieve against larger university chapters. Our chapter’s mentor program combined with a vast network of alumni has helped our members to gain internships and jobs directly out of Elmhurst!

What is ATO'S Philanthropy?

ATO’s signature philanthropy is “ATOlympics”. Money raised from the event is donated to the Wounded Warriors Project. There are a variety of games within the event such as a pie eating contest, an egg toss, 3-legged race, and a home run derby! A few of our smaller philanthropy events are Pictures with Santa which benefits Toys for Tots cohosted with Alpha Phi and “Take Aim Against Cancer” in conjunction with Sigma Kappa where balloons are sold and people can throw them at their favorite ATOs!
