Massage Modalities

Swedish

Swedish massage  involves soft, long, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on topmost layers of muscles. This is also combined with movement of the joints. By relieving muscle tension, Swedish therapy can be both relaxing and energizing. And it may even help after an injury.

Myofascial Release (MFR)

During myofascial release therapy, the therapist locates myofascial areas that feel stiff and fixed instead of elastic and movable under light manual pressure. These areas, though not always near what feels like the source of pain, restrict muscle and joint movements, which contributes to widespread muscle pain. The therapist uses long sustained stretches of these areas to effect a release.

Reflexology

Reflexology uses hand, thumb, and finger techniques to stimulate certain areas of the feet and/or hands. These areas are believed to correspond to different parts of the body. The massage, then, is expected to promote health and well-being.

Craniosacral

Craniosacral therapy (CST) is noninvasive. It uses gentle pressure to relieve the stress and pain caused by compression. The flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be normalized. By removing blockages from the normal flow, the body’s ability to heal is enhanced. It can, as a result, help to treat a number of conditions.

Hot Stone

For this kind of massage, the therapist places warmed stones on certain areas of the body, such as acupressure points. The stones may be used as massage tools or be temporarily left in place. Used along with other massage techniques, hot stones can be quite soothing and relaxing as they transmit heat deep into the body.
