Goal Statement: We will make guidelines for construction workers to follow by changing where and how new neighborhoods are built we will make preserved areas to protect animal habitats.
What YOU can do: You can research where the new construction occurred before purchasing a home. You can petition against community developers that build new neighborhoods disregarding animal habitats and support those who preserve animal habitats. You can advocate for legislation that will establish permanent guidelines for how future suburban development can occur.
Individual actions:
Plant a tree
Tell your friends
Participate in a protest
Not buy a home if animal habitats were destroyed there
Research community developers in your city and promote those who protect animal habitats
Create a social media post to raise awareness
Local actions:
Set up permanent signs advocating for the cause
Talk to city council or the mayor and advocate for a solution to habitat destruction caused by suburban development
Research animal habitats in suburban areas and allocate sections of land in suburban areas that should become protected
Require additional training for community developers and construction workers to provide the highest level of habitat protection
State actions:
Post billboards to raise awareness
Create a state law where any future suburban development must protect animal habitats and create parks in the neighborhoods
Create a state law where any tree that is cut down must be replanted in a protected location
Require community developers and contractors to attend training to educate them about the importance of protecting animal habitats
Set aside plots of lands where currently displaced animals can be relocated
National actions:
Create a national law that every new suburban development must set aside a portion of land that will remain untouched for animal protection
This area should be the most populated by animals
Create a national law that land must be surveyed before any construction can begin
If any endangered animals are found, no construction can occur
Create tax incentives for construction workers and community developers that are proportionate to the percentage of animal habitats that remain untouched
Create an educational course that all citizens must take before they are eligible to purchase a home
The goal of this will be to provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to evaluate how well animal habitats were protected during the construction process
