While academic appeal policy is found here: https://www.senecacollege.ca/about/policies/academic-appeal-policy.html#app_b, there is also a process within each school and program for how to manage informal appeals to faculty and to coordinators.
You have 10 business days to contact your professor via email regarding your concern about an assignment/test or final course grade. Your appeal must fit within the grounds for appeal found in Appendix A of the appeal policy. The faculty member has 5 business days to give you their decision back via email. If after you receive this decision, you disagree with it, you may send an informal appeal to the coordinator via email within 10 days of receiving the decision from your faculty. This email to the coordinator MUST contain the email decision from your faculty (forward the email with your appeal). Your coordinator has 5 business days to respond to this informal appeal. If you disagree with the decision of the coordinator, you may then informally appeal to the Chair of the program. You MUST send the decision email from your Coordinator in the email trail of your appeal to the Chair. You have 10 business days from receiving your appeal decision from the Coordinator to appeal to your Chair. The chair then has 5 business days to respond. If after this has been decided, you still wish to formally appeal, please follow the formal appeal process found in the Academic Appeal Policy.
** NOTE: During the informal appeal process, multiple emails regarding your appeal decision or asking for continued reconsideration without following the informal appeal process is harassment, in violation of the student code of conduct and the CNO's code of conduct. You will be reported to student conduct for this behaviour.
