Travel grant
NSF Travel grant for US students
The 21st IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad-Hoc and Smart Systems (MASS 2024) that will be held in Seoul, South Korea between September 23 - 25, 2024 is delighted to support competitive student travel grants to attend IEEE MASS 2024 Conference and co-located events (e.g., Workshops, Posters and Demos).
The funding for the student travel grant is provided by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) – www.nsf.gov. This funding is available only for full time students attending colleges and universities in the US. Underrepresented minority and women students from diverse US institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Although student authors may be given priority for travel awards, undergraduate research students (e.g., NSF REU students), MS research students, PhD researchers may also be considered. To be eligible, US based students must apply via the Google Form link no later than Saturday, July 20, 2024.
To apply for travel support, please do the following:
Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:
You are currently a full-time graduate or undergraduate student in good academic standing and working in areas related to mobile ad hoc and smart systems.
You will be attending the entire IEEE MASS 2024 conference and associated events, and explaining how you will benefit from it.
You are in need of the travel grant and your other travel costs (in excess of the travel grant) will be covered by other funds.
Write a personal statement describing your research interests and accomplishments to date, how you wish to benefit from attending IEEE MASS 2024. Indicate your full-time student status (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.), and the location you will be traveling from.
Submit the above documents, along with your two-page CV, using the Google Form link.
Please note that IEEE MASS conference may not be able to reimburse for all of your travel expenses due to limited budget. The actual reimbursement amount per student will be determined based on the number of awards made. Eligible expenses include advance student registration fee, hotel, and/or transportation (flight, bus or train). Note that any flights purchased with NSF funds must be either (i) on an U.S.-based carrier, or (ii ) ticketed through a U.S. carrier (e.g., codeshare flights on international airlines). Expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement include regular or on-site registration, taxi and meals. Student travel grants are available in the form of reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference and receipt of all required documentation and receipts.
Eligibility
The support is intended to cover the costs of attending the conference. The costs include conference registration, transportation, and lodging. Selection for the student travel grants will be in accordance with the following guidelines:
The applicant must be a current student at a recognized US institution of higher education.
Student authors whose paper/poster/demo do not have any grant acknowledgments will have higher priority.
The students may be pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree and field of study must be related to IEEE MASS.
US citizens or US permanent residents receive preference; others are eligible to apply and will be considered.
Students who belong to groups that are under-represented in STEM and from minority-serving or under-represented institutions and states are specifically encouraged to apply.
Students and institutions who have not attended IEEE MASS in the past will have priority.
Student authors who are not presenting a paper/poster/demo or whose paper/poster/demo were not selected for publication at MASS 2024 and would benefit from attending the conference will also be considered.
Consideration will be given to other applicants falling outside the above categories, but they need to demonstrate a well-justified financial need.
