Biography

Josep Miquel Jornet is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University, the director of the Ultrabroadband Nanonetworking (UN) Laboratory and a member of the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things and the SMART Center. His research interests are in terahertz communication networks, wireless nano-bio-communication networks, and the Internet of Nano-Things. In these areas, he has co-authored more than 160 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including 2 books and 4 US patents. His work has received more than 10,000 citations (h-index of 45 as of June 2021). Since July 2016, he is the Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier’s Nano Communication Networks Journal, and he also serves on the Steering Committee of the ACM Conference Series on Nano Computing and Communication. He is serving as the lead PI on multiple grants from U.S. federal agencies including the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) as well as industry. He has received multiple awards, including the Best Paper Award in IEEE INFOCOM 2021, the NSF CAREER Award in 2019, the 2017 IEEE ComSoc Young Professional Best Innovation Award or the 2017 ACM NanoCom Outstanding Milestone Award, among others. He is a senior member of the IEEE.

Biography

Chong Han received Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA in 2016. He is currently a John Wu & Jane Sun Endowed Associate Professor with University of Michigan-Shanghai Jiao Tong University (UM-SJTU) Joint Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and director of the Terahertz Wireless Communications (TWC) Laboratory. Since 2021, he is also affiliated with Department of Electronic Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the recipient of 2023 IEEE ComSoc Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award, 2018 Elsevier NanoComNet (Nano Communication Network Journal) Young Investigator Award, among others. He serves as a (guest) editor with IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC), IEEE Journal on Selected Topics in Signal Processing (JSTSP), etc. He is a TPC chair to organize multiple IEEE and ACM conferences and workshops, including the first-edition THz SAC with GC’2023. He is a co-founder and vice-chair of IEEE ComSoc Special Interest Group (SIG) on Terahertz Communications, since 2021. His research interests include Terahertz wireless communications. He is a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the ACM.

Biography

Gianni Pasolini received the M.Sc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1999 and 2003, respectively. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical, Electronic, and Information Engineering (DEI) of the University of Bologna. Since 2003, he has been actively engaged in teaching various courses in the field of telecommunications. His primary research areas include wireless communication systems, Internet of Things, digital signal processing, and THz communications. Throughout his career, he has actively participated in several European initiatives focused on wireless communications, contributing to COST actions and Networks of Excellence. Gianni Pasolini is a founding member of the "National Laboratory of Wireless Communications - Wilab" at the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT) in Italy. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society (IEEE OJ-COM). He also served as a member of the Organizing Committee for PIMRC 2018, ISWCS 2017, and ICUWB 2011. He was the vice-chair of the joint ComSoc/VTS Italian Chapter in 2018-2021 and the recipient of the Best Paper Award at the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC).

Biography

Hina Tabassum is currently an Associate Professor at the Lassonde School of Engineering, York University, Canada, where she joined as an Assistant Professor in 2018. She is also appointed as York Research Chair on 5G/6G-enabled mobility and sensing applications in 2023 for five years. Prior to that, she was a research fellow in the area of wireless communications at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Manitoba, Canada. She completed her PhD at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia, in 2013.She received Lassonde Innovation Early-Career Researcher Award in 2023, N2Women: Rising Stars in Computer Networking and Communications in 2022, and listed in the Stanford's list of the World’s Top Two-Percent Researchers in 2021 and 2022. She has published over 80 refereed articles in well-reputed IEEE journals, magazines, and conferences. Her publications thus far have garnered 5500+ citations with an h-index of 34 (according to Google Scholar). She is the founding chair of a special interest group on THz communications in IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) - Radio Communications Committee (RCC). Currently, she is serving as an Area Editor in IEEE Open Journal of Communications Society (IEEE OJCOMS) and Associate Editor in IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials, and IEEE IoT Magazine. She served as an Associate Editor in IEEE Communications Letters (2019-2023), IEEE OJCOMS (2019-2023), and IEEE Transactions on Green Communications (2020-2023).  She has been recognized as an Exemplary  Editor by IEEE Communications Letters (2020), IEEE OJCOMS (2023), and IEEE Transactions on Green Communications (2023). She was recognized as an Exemplary Reviewer (Top 2% of all reviewers) by IEEE Transactions on Communications in 2015-2017, 2019, and 2020. She is a Senior member of IEEE and registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, Canada.

Biography

Arjun Singh received the B.S. summa cum laude in Electrical Engineering and the M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, NY, USA, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He is a member of the Ultra-Broadband Nanonetworking Laboratory at Northeastern University, where he is presently a Ph.D. candidate under the guidance of Dr. Josep M. Jornet. His research interests include realizing Terahertz-band wireless communications, graphene-plasmonics, antenna array and IRS design and operation, and wavefront engineering. In these areas, he has co-authored publications in reputed journals including IEEE JSAC, as well as a US patent.
