La Giornata Internazionale della Luce è stata proclamata a partire dal 2015 dall'UNESCO in onore dell'anniversario della realizzazione del primo laser al mondo da parte di T.H. Maiman nel 1960, con l'obiettivo di promuovere il ruolo centrale della luce e delle tecnologie basate sulla luce nella scienza, nella cultura, nell'educazione e nello sviluppo economico sostenibile.

In occasione di tale Giornata, la Società Italiana di Fisica (SIF) e la Società Italiana di Ottica e Fotonica (SIOF), promuovono la realizzazione di eventi organizzati da giovani studenti e dottorandi e dedicati alla loro formazione, come workshop, seminari, tavole rotonde, talk e giornate di studio.

The International Day of Light was proclaimed in 2015 by UNESCO in honour of the anniversary of the creation of the world's first laser by T.H. Maiman in 1960, with the aim of promoting the central role of light and light-based technologies in science, culture, education and sustainable economic development.

On the occasion of this Day, the Italian Physical Society (SIF) and the Italian Society of Optics and Photonics (SIOF) promote events organised by young students and PhD students and dedicated to their education, such as workshops, seminars, round tables, talks and study days.

L'EVENTO PRESSO IL CENTRO RICERCHE ENRICO FERMI

L'evento ha due obiettivi principali: orientare e introdurre al mondo della ricerca chi sta per ultimare o ha da poco terminato gli studi universitari; offrire un'occasione di incontro e di scambio per creare un network tra persone che si occupano di Ottica e Fotonica.

The event has two main objectives: to orientate and introduce to the world of research those who are about to finish or have recently finished their university studies; and to offer an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas in order to create a network between people involved in Optics and Photonics.

L'evento sarà diviso in due parti, la prima di stampo più teorico e la seconda di stampo più pratico. Dopo aver ascoltato diversi talk e una tavola rotonda non mancherà occasione di visitare il laboratorio di Fotonica e il Museo di Storia della Fisica 'Enrico Fermi'.

The event will be divided into two parts, the first being more theoretical and the second more practical. After listening to several talks and a panel discussion, there will be an opportunity to visit the Photonics laboratory and the 'Enrico Fermi' Historical Museum of Physics.
