Canva is a browser-based graphic design tool that can be used for creating infographics, presentations, social media posts, videos, and more.
Canva is a "freemium" tool - you can either use it with a free account with some limitations and restrictions on download formats, templates, and design elements or pay a subscription to access the full suite of tools.
This Idea Lab resource is designed to help you use a free account to create and share an infographic for an assignment.

Visit the Canva website and click on "Sign Up" in the top right-hand corner of the homepage:
2. Sign up with your email address (it does not have to be your Humber or Guelph-Humber address, just remvber which address you signed up with!).
3. You will see the option to start a free trial of a Canva Pro account. While this trial lasts for 30 days, you may not be able to access or share all of the content you created once the trial has expired, so we recommend not activating the free "Pro" trial.
Click on "Create."
2. Type "infographic" in the search bar, and select the first option, "Infographic (Digital)."
You have the option of starting with a blank page or selecting a template.
If you choose to modify an existing template, browse through and select one but avoid templates that feature a crown icon, as these are only available to Canva Pro accounts.
Canva refers to items that you add to your infographic as "Elements," these include shapes, graphics, charts, and frames.
Use the search function to look for icons, graphs, photos, and other items you would like to include.
If you are using a free Canva account, avoid using elements that are marked with the crown icon.
If you've created custom elements or sourced assets such as open-licensed images or icons from outside of Canva, you can easily upload them.
Click the Uploads button, then select files from your device or connect to cloud storage services like Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox.
Use the "Share" button to share your completed design. You have the option to download your infographic or share a link to an online version:
After clicking "Share," select the "Download" option and choose PDF or PNG.
After clicking "Share," select the "Public view link" option and click on "Create public view link" button.
2. Click on the "Copy" button to copy the public viewing link. This link can be pasted in an email, Blackboard message, or assignment submission box.
