In the month of September we were busy hosting our annual conference. This year we hosted Literacy, Equity and Advocacy for Dyslexia: LEAD Conference in Pittsburg, KS. We had 88 participants show up and enjoy a fabulous day of learning and networking. You can view our speakers and their content on our conference website. October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. We hope that you have been following our Facebook page where we are updating you with information to help spread awareness of Dyslexia. For this month, we are selling these bella canvas shirts with Kansas and Missouri listed on the front. These are VERY comfortable and well made. Get yours!

Within our board, we have the following committees: membership, scholarship, fundraising, conference, outreach, social media, (closed meetings) budget and finance, and executive board.

Ever wondered how you can help out but at a smaller scale? Consider a monthly donation or a one time donation by clicking the button to the right. We have a goal to raise $10,000 a year. This covers the cost of scholarships, approximately $7,000 a year, hosting a conference, sending two board members to the national conference and all outreach events that have a cost. Without you, we could not do what we do. We want to expand and grow so all help is appreciated and can be a tax write-off, if you need one!

MISSION
"To create a future for all individuals who struggle with dyslexia and other related reading differences so that they may have richer, more robust lives, and access the tools and resources they need."
VISION
The New Sharpened Vision, identified by the IDA board is to have Structured Literacy in every classroom everywhere and around the world by focusing on the following 5 items:
1. Expand the use of Structured Literacy strategies globally.
2. Promote IDA's KPS as the Gold Standard for Structured Literacy.
3. Promote IDA's KPEERI Exam as the gold standard to measure educator's knowledge of the principles and practices of SL (according to KPS).
4. Expand our Accreditation Program to endorse universities and independent programs to produce qualified teachers that will change how reading is taught in the public schools.
5. Place focus on Pre-Service teachers and their respective universities as the best way to inject SL into public schools.
