A member of the Idaho Springs Lions Club is a volunteer who belongs to an international network of men and women dedicated to improving their communities and the world through humanitarian service. Lions Clubs International, the organization overseeing these clubs, is the largest service club organization in the world, with members in over 200 countries. What I Enjoy Most About Being a Lion:
The opportunity to serve, especially through our impactful service projects like KidSight, which makes a difference in young lives.
Career:
I have a background in management and executive roles within Information Technology. For the past decade, I’ve worked as a self-employed management consultant, bringing expertise and guidance to organizations.
Hobbies and Passions Outside of Lions:
In my free time, I enjoy skiing, playing bridge, model railroading, and listening to both jazz and classical music. Family time with my children and grandchildren is important to me. I’m also active in community initiatives, serving as Vice President of our Property Owners Association and Chairman of SOLVE, a county organization.
Previous Lions Positions:
I’ve previously held roles as Tail Twister, Lion Tamer, and Vice President within the club.
Something of Interest:
I’ve had the unique experience of living abroad several times, and I speak several languages beyond English.

What I Enjoy Most About Being a Lion:
Helping people in need within our community is what I find most rewarding about being a Lion.
Career:
I am retired from Xcel Energy and pipeline construction.
Hobbies and Passions Outside of Lions:
In my free time, I enjoy woodworking, skiing, and spending time with my grandchildren.

I have served in all club positions locally, numerous times.
Personal Notes:
I am a 4th generation Coloradoan, raised at an elevation of 11,000 feet.
Additional Comments:
I have been a proud member of the Idaho Springs Lions for 44 years. It’s an honor to belong to an organization that does so much for our community.

Hobbies and Passons outside of Lions:
Music, travel/sight-seeing, hiking, photos and time spent with Tamara, my partner of over 33 years, and my brother and his family.

What do you enjoy most about being a Lion:
I enjoy the folks we work with as Lions members coming together to make a better place, and our projects that help all age groups and especially helping children. To work with compassionate people is truly a gift. Our energy from compassion motivates and betters me and the world.
Career:
I am a Registered Nurse. I worked in a hospital med-surg unit and later spent years as a home hospice visiting RN.
Hobbies and Passons outside of Lions:
I love to travel, hike, bicycle, camp, read and experience new adventures every chance I get! I am passionate about helping to reduce the suffering in the world. And, also, keeping the wild spaces wild. And getting out into the wild, natural world

I am forever curious and love to learn new things about everything, applying my knowledge to help, be mindful, intentional, and gratefully pleased is a joy as I grow

What I Enjoy Most About Being a Lion:
I am passionate about service projects, especially our KidSight program, which makes a meaningful difference in children's lives.
Career:
I spent 30 years as a Software Engineer with Western Electric before transitioning to freelance web development.
Hobbies and Passions Outside of Lions:
I love to travel and have been fortunate enough to explore all seven continents. I'm also an avid bridge player, though I’ve slowed down since the pandemic.
Previous Lions Positions:
My past roles in Lions include President and Treasurer of the Golden Lions Club. I also served as Zone Chair for District 6C (Denver Metro area) for two years and as District Governor in 2021-2022. Currently, I am serving as the Childhood Cancer Chair for both the district and Colorado Lions.
Personal Notes:
I am the proud father of two sons and grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren.
What It Means to be a member of the Idaho Springs Lions Club:
Commitment to Service: Lions focus on serving in areas such as vision health, hunger relief, environmental conservation, disaster response, youth support, and more.
Community Engagement: Members organize and participate in local projects like vision screenings, fundraising for scholarships, food drives, and various other community events.
Global Impact: In addition to local service, Lions contribute to global initiatives, including fighting blindness, supporting disaster relief, and addressing childhood cancer.
Leadership and Fellowship: Lions Clubs offer members opportunities to develop leadership skills, hold club offices, and work with other leaders globally, all while fostering friendships and connections within their communities and beyond.
Joining a Lions Club provides a chance to make a real difference, both locally and globally, through hands-on projects, donations, and advocacy.
