Idaho Springs Lions
Welcome to the International Lions Club of Idaho Springs, Colorado
The Idaho Springs Lions Club, part of Lions Clubs International, is a dedicated community-focused group serving the residents of Idaho Springs, Colorado, and beyond. Our club embodies the Lions’ spirit of “We Serve” by actively participating in various local service projects and initiatives that uplift our community.
Our Service Projects
1. KidSight Vision Screening
Good vision is vital to a child’s education and development. That’s why we prioritize the KidSight Vision Screening program. This initiative provides free eye screenings for children, identifying potential vision problems at an early stage. Early detection can make a world of difference for a child’s future, and we are proud to play a part in ensuring children in our community have access to essential vision care.
2. High School Scholarship Program
We believe in investing in the future of our youth. Each year, the Idaho Springs Lions Club offers scholarships to deserving high school students in our area. The scholarship program supports students who have demonstrated academic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. It’s our way of encouraging and empowering the next generation to pursue their dreams.
3. Flags for Holidays
On significant national holidays, you might notice an array of flags lining the streets of Idaho Springs, a tradition brought to you by our club. Through the Flags for Holidays project, we aim to instill a sense of pride and patriotism in our community while celebrating key moments in our nation's history.
4. Used Eyeglasses collection
Idaho Springs Lions club participates in the Lions International "Recycle For Sight" program by collecting used eyeglasses. After used glasses have been collected, they are separated by type (broken (unusable), non-prescription sunglasses, readers, specialty including prescription sunglasses, and all usable prescription glasses. All usable prescription glasses are cleaned, scanned to determine the optics of each pair and sorted by prescription. They are then boxed for distribution to various organizations who distribute them in the U.S. and around the world to people that do not have access to glasses.
5. Supporting the Local Food Bank
No one should go hungry, and we are committed to helping those in need through our support of the local food bank. By providing donations, resources, and volunteering efforts, we help ensure that families in Idaho Springs have access to essential food supplies and services.
