SETTING UP COMPUTER NETWORKS
After completing the COC 1, you will now learn about setting-up computer networks. Here we'll show you each step that you will do to set up the network configuration of the computers.
Network Configuration
Below the video is the step-by-step tutorial in text form.
Step 1: Reset your router. By doing this helps your internet connection running smoothly and refreshes connections.
Step 2: Rename both PC and WORKGROUP. Changing a PC's name and workgroup is done to make it easier to identify and organize devices within a network.
Step 3: Get the IP Address. To get the IP, click Win + R and enter "cmd" then type "ipconfig". The default gateway should be listed in there.
-> incase the IP doesn't show up, try performing release/renew= ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew
3.1. Win10 should be in Dynamic (obtain)
3.2. Server should be in Static (the Default Gateway which is the IP Router)
3.3. Wireless should be in Dynamic as well
Step 4: Press Win+R and command "Ipconfig". Then copy the default gateway. After that, Open Microsoft Edge. On the search bar, paste the default gateway and press enter.
Step 5: Once you press enter, you will be directed to TP-link or the Router's Dashboard. You can now Login, add the username and password. Put "admin" as both username and password, but it depends on what your Adviser say.
Step 6: On the left side of the screen, click Networks, under Networks press LAN. Enter the IP address of the router and its subnet mask.
Step 7: After that, click wireless settings, and configure the SSID or the name of your router. Then click on Wireless Security and add the password.
Step 8: To set the scope range, go to DHCP and click the box that has "Start" and "End". Then type in the range of the router. Starting with the first 3 digit of the IP. Don't forget to command "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew"
Step 9: Connect a wireless device, change the computer name and workgroup, then restart. Verify connection to the SSID and IP address.
Step 10: In DHCP, look for the device connected in Client List. Copy the MAC Address and a add it in Address Reservation and paste the MAC Address. Type in the IP address you want to add to the device and choose enable. Then save.
Step 11.: Test the network connection of both computer by using the ping command. Type "Ping" and beside it is the IP address of the computer you're testing. If a three reply appear, it means the connection is good.
Step 12: Lastly, Enable MAC Filtering by adding the MAC addresses from the PC that are seen connected from the client list. Then save.
