COVID19 Vaccination

DepEd appeals its personnel to get vaccinated against COVID-19. “What we have been pointing out is that we will be dealing with the children, we will be protecting the children and perhaps our teacher will consider it as part of the responsibility to protect the lives of those who are entrusted to us,” Sec. Briones added. Furthermore, Briones also asked all DepEd staff to assist in educating the public about vaccines and vaccination procedures. “Teachers must be champions for the vaccine in their respective communities,” Briones said. “We are continuously conducting information campaigns as well as surveys to monitor the responses of our teachers to this policy,” she added.

In order to spread awareness and information on the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine and other mitigation efforts, DepEd also launched the “Vacc2School: Ligtas na Bakuna Para sa Balik-Eskwela” for teaching and non-teaching personnel.

The message that the video would like to highlight is that people should look at effectiveness of these vaccines against deaths and hospitalizations.

"Efficacy matters but it doesn't matter the most. The question isn't 'which vaccine will protect you from any COVID infection' but 'which one will keep you alive or out of the hospital'. 'Which one will end the pandemic?' and that's any of them."

Back-to-Learning

The checklist was developed in accordance with the health-promoting schools principles and approaches and highlights the importance of multi-level coordination (i.e. national, subnational and individual school levels) and both participatory and co-designed approaches among various stakeholders (e.g. school staff, teachers, students and parents).

The checklist is aligned with, and builds upon, existing COVID-19-related WHO guidelines and is structured around protective measures related to: 1) hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette; 2) physical distancing; 3) use of masks in schools; 4) environmental cleaning and ventilation; and 5) respecting procedures for isolation of all people with symptoms.

This Guidance aims to help teachers understand key issues related to home-based distance learning during COVID-19 school closures and design and facilitate effective learning activities. While we fully recognize the complementary relationships between formal and non-formal education, and continuity of studies across education and training levels throughout lifelong learning pathways, this Guidance includes resources, examples and tips for teachers and educators form pre-primary to upper-secondary level.
