Tournament Scoring

5 Club Monte - Medal Play tournament, but each player is only allowed to carry 5 clubs, which includes the putter.

6/6/6 - Three different six hole tournaments combined in one round. Tournaments for each 6 holes determined by Tournament Chair.

Chicago - Points given by hole (gross score, not net) as follows: Eagle (8), Birdie (4), Par (2), Bogie (1). Score is against a quota by where your handicap is subtracted from 49. Chicago points minus quota is your final score. Highest score, by flight, wins. Example: Handicap is 9, so quota is 49-9=40. Your Chicago points total 30, so final score is 30-40=(-10). If another player had a final score of (-5), then that player is 5 points better than the (-10).

Club Championship - Three round tournament for best combined net and gross scores. Trophies awarded for overall results and also within each flight.

Eclectic - Two round tournament where the best net score, by hole, from both rounds is counted. Best net score, by flight, wins.

Four Ball (two man teams) - Two man teams where only the lowest net score is counted on each hole.

Four Man Shamble - Everyone hits their own tee shot. Team selects best shot and everyone plays out their own ball from there. The two best scores are taken from each hole. Subtract 47% of the three lowest handicaps for that team from the gross. This give 3 person teams a fighting chance to win.

Holiday Bottle Tournament - Basically Medal Play, but prizes for best Gross, Net, and Flight winners are given first choice of a selection of holiday spirits.

House of Cards - 3 or 4 man teams (each player is assigned a number) where best net score for each hole is counted plus the net score of a player determined by a card pulled from the tee box of the following hole.

Jane Williams Memorial - Medal Play match in honor of the Indian Creek Golf Club founder. Winners are memorialized on a perpectual placard.

Lone Ranger - For each hole, one person of a 3 or 4 man team is designated as the Lone Ranger. Their net score and the best net score of the team are combined for that hole. They may be the same person. Each player in the team will be the Lone Ranger every 3rd or 4th hole, depending on team size. Lowest team score wins.

Medal Play - Players ranked by flight with their net scores.

Modified Stableford - Points given by hole (net) as follows: Albatross (10), Eagle (6), Birdie (3), Par (1), Bogie (0), Double Bogie (-2). Highest score by flight wins.

Nassau - Winners determined by flight with net scores for front 9, back 9 and total 18.

Red, White, and  Blue - Each golfer will tee off on 6 white, red, and blue tees. These will be dictated by the tournament chair. Low net score for each flight wins.

Skins Tournament - Not to be confused with the usual tournament skins games. Each person in the foursome are playing against each other for $1.00 per hole. The person with the single lowest net score for that hole wins the dollar. If there is no winner for a hole, that dollar is carried forwarded and added to the next hole.

Spring Trophy Tournament - Overall Gross and Net plus flight winners receive trophies, rather than cash awards.

Turkey Shoot - Basically medal play, but each player receives a gift card, no matter what their score.

Two Man Shamble - Everyone hits their own tee shot. Team selects best shot and both play out their own ball from there. Both scores are taken from each hole. Handicap is the average of both players and deducted from the total gross score.

Whack 'N Hack - 3 or 4 man teams. Each person plays their own ball. If there is a net birdie for that hole, then that score and the next best net score is counted. If there is no net birdie, then the best net and worst net score is counted for that hole.

Optional Games within Most Tournaments

Skins - $5 ante required.  Player with the single best score for each hole wins a share of the total pot based on how many skins are won.

Net Skins - $5 ante required. Player with the single best net score for each hole wins a share of the total pot based on how many skins are won. Each handicap point is worth 1/2 stroke and assigned starting with most to least difficult holes. Maximum is one stroke per hole. 

Example: Player A has a handicap of 18. Player B has a handicap of 36. Player A will deduct 1/2 stroke on every hole. Player B will deduct 1 stroke on every hole. Player A gets a par on par 4, so their net score is 3.5. Player B gets a par on par 4, so their net score is 3 and they win the hole.

Net Birdie Challenge - $10 ante required. First three players to get a net birdie on all 18 holes win a portion of the pot with 50% going to the winner, 30% for 2nd, and 20% for 3rd. Once there is a 3rd place winner, a new challenge will begin, no matter what time of year that happens.

Traditional Birdie Challenge - $15 ante required. This challenge is for the calendar year. The person who gets the most different holes with a true birdie wins 50% of the pot, 30% for 2nd, and 20% for 3rd. 

Fewest Putts - $1 ante required. Three places are awarded each tournament with 1st place getting 50% of the pot, 30% for 2nd, and 20% for 3rd. Counting starts once a ball comes to rest on the green. Should a putt from on the green then go off the green (ie: holes 2 and 3), those following shots from off the green still count as putts.

Closest to the Pin - $2 ante required. Four holes are assigned by the Tournament Chair to be closest to the pin (same two on both front and back nine).  Payouts for each hole from the combined pot are 50% for 1st, 30% for 2nd, and 20% for 3rd. 

Hole in One - $1 ante required. Anyone who gets a hole in one wins whatever is in the pot, up to $1,000. There is a maximum of two $1,000 pots available. 

Match Play - $5 ante required. This is a handicapped sub-tournament conducted within a series of medal play format tournaments as determined by the Tournament Chair.

• Scoring: Usually a 2 person match. and paired together. Net winner of each hole gets 1 point. No points for a tie hole. 

  • In the event there are an odd number of players remaining, there will be one match with 3 players with only one moving forward. In that case, each hole is worth 2 points. If one player wins the hole (net), they get 2 points, if low score is between two players, each player gets 1 point. 3 way tie is 0 points for all players.

• If the match ends in a tie, both players advance. If the final match ends in a tie, they would play again the following tournament (both advance).

• Each player can miss one match and remain in the competition. Upon a second absense, that player will be eliminated. Any player that signs up for a match, but misses it, will forfeit the match.

• Payouts are 50% of the pot for 1st, 30% for 2nd and 20% for third. Note 3rd place determination may require a seperate match.
