Understand the science principles behind climate mitigation strategies focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions to prevent the severity of future climate change.
Understand the science principles behind climate adaptation strategies that focuses on preparing for and responding to the impacts of climate change.
In the Project Drawdown module, which including both readings and videos from Project Drawdown, I learned to see the bigger picture in how drawdown would eventually be achieved. Rather than one big move, it is a collection of smaller efforts in different sectors that work together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For example, switching or moving to plant-rich diets would help with agriculture and livestock, which create many emissions through eliminating methane emissions from cows and by reducing land usage. As well, I learned that climate change becomes a social issue as well, where educating women of lower class and providing them opportunities to pursue a career would help reduce population growth and in turn, accommodate to the carrying capacity of the Earth (learned about this more in depth in AP Enviro).
