Celebrating the Sunday of the Word of God

In Aperuit illis (§3), Pope Francis suggests the following ways to celebrate the Sunday of the Word of God:

Enthrone the sacred text.
Highlight the proclamation of the Word of the Lord.
Emphasise the honour due to the word of God in the homily.
Celebrate the Rite of Installation of Lectors or a commissioning of Readers.
Provide training for Readers.
Give a Bible, or one of its books, to everyone.
Encourage people to read and pray with Scripture daily, especially through the practice of lectio divina.

Very important: Even if you have been vaccinated, social distancing and sanitising are still essential. The disease and the spread of it are in our hands. Only half the capacity of the church may be filled during lockdown level one; in our case it is 110 people.

+ Welcome: Thank you Father Rafa Armada for helping us out again this morning.

+ Saturday Evening Mass : There will be no Saturday evening Mass until Lent.

+ Catechism: Registration of all learners for 2022 starts this Sunday after 09:00 am Mass. Parents please register your children in time so that catechism can start straight after the Catechists have been Mandated.

+ Joy of the Gospel 2022: Get your copy for next year at only R100. This book is valuable for deepening your faith and following the readings through the year.

+ SHARING IS CARING: Should you need any help with food, please speak to Margaret so that we can help you. It is our duty to take care of the poor, yet we want to thank you for the donations you generously make every week. Please bring along some Maize Meal, instant Maize meal, Pasta rice, curry powder, salt, spices, jam, peanut butter, and tinned food next week. All donations can be placed in the container provided.

+ Youth: All those between 13 and 80 years old and interested in joining the youth, can please speak to Lorne after the 9 o'clock mass.

+ Repository: We have lovely new rosaries available for purchase. Please make suggestions for additional items to stock and purchase from Lionete or Margaret
