THE OFFICE of the Vice President (OVP) called for volunteers in this COVID-19 response operation catered to the needs of the health workers in Cebu City. This effort was brought forth due to the increased number of cases in the city. Driven by the call to serve, the Shrikers (Batch 1992) donated over 4700 Uratex Prone Pillows to Vice President Leni Robredo's #BayanihanSugbuanan effort during the month of August.
In line with this, members of Batch 1992 collaborated to plan their contribution. Instead of providing the usual feeding and the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to frontliners, they shifted their focus towards the welfare of the patients.
The batch held a fund drive named the Prone Pillow Project to procure the Uratex Prone Pillows, which supplied patients with easier breathing, relief, and comfort. Additionally, many members of the batch extended aid by providing their knowledge and resources. The contributions included a doctor who connected the batch to hospitals in need of these pillows and a fellow batchmate who lent her warehouse.
This project came to a close with the successful shipment of these pillows to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, University of Cebu Medical Center, Perpetual Succour Hospital, Cebu Doctor's Hospital, and the Chong Hua Hospital branches in Cebu City and Mandaue City.
