Product Design Project: Sustainable Shoebox
Students will design a new version of Sustainable Shoebox that emphasizes sustainability. Choose one of these strategies:
Right-sizing: Make the sustainable shoebox smaller to use less Cardboard if it applies.
Light-weighting: Use lighter materials to reduce emissions during shipping if it applies .
Research: Explore current project designs and their environmental impact.
Choose a Strategy: Pick one of the three sustainable strategies.
Design: Create sketches or prototypes of your new sustainable shoebox design.
Present: Share your design and explain how it meets sustainability goals.
This project encourages creativity and awareness of sustainable practices in packaging design!
Important Instructions for Your Project Folio
Create a Google Doc: Make sure it has editing rights and share it with your teacher.
Page Setup:
Go to File > Page Setup.
Set to A4 size.
Margins: Top, Bottom, Left, and Right should all be set to 1 inch.
Font: Use Arial (except for Works Cited).
Text Size: Use size 12 for regular text; headings, subheadings, and elements should be slightly larger and in bold.
Spacing: Set line spacing to 1.5 .
Text Color: Use black for all text except for the subheading, and the strands could be in dark blue.
Include the following on your front cover:
Use the exact wording for subheadings in each criterion (A, B, C, & D). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbuICoJV9lQ
For example, if the strand is "Research," use that as the subheading.
Heading, subheadings, and elements must be in ** bold **.
If you see "(REQUIRED)" in the instructions, that’s the subheading to use—do not include the word "(REQUIRED)".
Focus on quality, not quantity, and avoid leaving empty spaces on the pages.
