As much as the professional skills are super important, they also don't accurate depict who we are as a person. Let me walk you through who I am outside of work, because personal growth is just as important as professional development.
I am a fan of all things geek - from Marvel comics to video games, you'll find me in my free time nerding out over one thing or another. On the weekends you'll find me on the beach with my dog, hiking the nearby trails, or visiting a new coffee shop or brewery. When I'm not nerding out on my hobbies, I'm usually picking up certificates in new projects, like learning python, analytics, or research.
I grew up in Orange County, California. My parents are from Mexico City and they moved before I was born to pursue a new life in the US. Being Latino and growing up right on the border of the orange curtain I was influenced by the wildly diverse ecosystem that small space held. I grew up recognizing my privilege and advocating for what that space meant to others.
Growing up in this environment I began studying human behavior early on, studying psychology my entire life I have focused on how to understand and enhance our behavior. I've spent over 10 years working in clinical settings providing therapy, training, coaching and developing programs. More recently I have shifted my focus and skills to use this understanding of behavior to understand sales funnels, user experience, and management skills. I have spent the past 4 years leading a team of providers and building a clinic from the ground up to provide services to underrepresented communities.
We are all naturally curious, just ask any psychologist if someone has asked them if they are analyzing them (Pro tip: We're not, at least until you ask that question). Psychology is the foundation of human behavior whether its applied to a clinical setting to help others, management to lead and grow teams, or understand sales and marketing behaviors. Psychology is the root of all our decision making process and my journey has been to understand it.
Gaming - I love playing video games with my nephews and friends, it's how we stay connected from long distance.
Woodworking - I love working with craft wood, small boxes, planters, nothing major.
Hiking - The pup and I love to hike the beach trails and the hills around Pacifica. I also just finished a 30-day Yoga challenge, and I can touch my toes!
Reading - Give me a stack of books (fiction, non-fiction, all of it) and I'll be a happy camper.
