Guided by shared learning and mutual trust, they chose to step beyond their comfort zones, dream without limits, and risk everything in pursuit of innovation. ASME TAIWAN Student Design Competition (SDC) 2023
The photo captures the beginning of the story, when the captain (MAX) bravely led everyone to their first victory in the robot competition.
The story began in 2022, when PI searched for young people on campus who also loved robots. At that moment, a radiant student caught his eye. Yes, his name is Ting-Yu Chien, a.k.a. MAX. Since 2023, we have participated in various competitions, including UAVs, UGVs, industrial robots, and robotic arms. These experiences have been crucial to enriching our lives and strengthening our skills. We've realized that a focused approach is essential for sustained growth. As a result, we have prioritized certain competitions, including the ASME/TAIWAN SDC, TDK, the InnoServe Award, and the AI Creation Award. We are also actively recruiting new talent to join our team to achieve greater success and recognition.

How should I start?
When preparing, it's important to prioritize specific skills. Robotics emphasizes the need for System Integration (SI) capabilities, so we must gradually acquire a range of skills to meet these challenges. Here are some suggestions:
Time Management: You must be self-disciplined and willing to dedicate sufficient passion and time to your interests and goals; you cannot be afraid of failure.
Teamwork: It's difficult to win a game alone unless you are the Game Master (GM). Therefore, you must collaborate with your partners to maximize performance.
Familiarize Yourself with the Game Rules: your project's theme should be innovative and designed to earn applause. Additionally, it's essential to have a thorough understanding of the game rules to develop an effective strategy.
System Design: This is the most challenging stage because you need to enhance your knowledge and skills in both hardware and software to create a competitive solution. Typically, this involves drawing blueprints, using 3D printing, utilising sensors and embedded systems, and coding software.
Material Evaluation: This may be the second most difficult part, as you need to find suitable materials and parts for the competition to assemble your robot.
Implementation and Testing: Before the competition, you must perform extensive implementation and testing to develop a competitive solution and succeed.
In short, learning from experts is the fastest way; you should conduct more research and discussions. Strive to become a truly capable player.

1. ASME TAIWAN SDC (國研盃智慧機械競賽)
The United States led this project, and Taiwan has been implementing it since 2013. It features the design of highly integrated, compact, remote-controlled vehicles tailored to specific tasks, with an active focus on earning points. It is also suitable for students seeking early exposure to robotics, with a focus on self-improvement rather than on awards. Last but not least, we've been involved in this project since 2023. With Mr. Chien as team leader, we've won numerous accolades, including Second and Third Place, and the Precision Control Award. https://www.asme.org.tw/
2. Taiwan TDK Robocon (TDK盃全國大專校院創思設計與製作競賽)
This project was led by TDK in Japan, and implemented in Taiwan since 1997. It features the design of highly integrated unmanned vehicles (manual/automatic control) based on the task, and actively pursues points. This is also suitable for students with prior robotics experience. Last but not least, we have been involved in this project since 2023. 3. AI Creation Award Competition (全國大專院校 AI 智動化設備創作獎)
This project was led by GPM Taiwan and has been implemented in Taiwan since 2011. It showcases creative works that encourage free creation and align with the spirit of intelligent automation. It is also suitable for students with prior practical experience in AI and systems integration. Last but not least, we have been involved in this project since 2022. 4. International ICT Innovative Services Awards (大專校院資訊應用服務創新競賽)
This project, led by the Taiwan Ministry of Education, has been implemented in Taiwan since 1993. It emphasizes creative work aligned with the spirit of ICT and is also suitable for students with prior practical experience in AI and systems integration.
