Ian Cunningham

I have been a student journalist since my sophomore year of high school, when I took "Journalistic Writing and Analysis I" as an elective (mostly because I expected it to be an easy A). Since then, my journalistic endeavors have proved to be anything but easy.

I have had the privilege of working for three publications where my reporting has spanned everything from sporting and school events to political protests and investigative reporting. I was honored to be recognized for a first place award in news reporting by the Illinois College Press Association in March 2025.

I am proud of my portfolio, and the invaluable experiences I have gained working alongside my many incredible peers to bring reliable, timely news to readers in three unique Illinois communities.
