On The DI staff, I copyedit online stories weekly and print stories each month. In my time on staff, I have edited hundreds of articles.

I joined The Daily Illini staff in September 2024 as a copy editor. As a copy editor, I reviewed stories across all of The DI's sections — news, sports, life & culture, and opinions. I worked closely with writers, section editors, and other copy editors to ensure that each story was of the highest factual, structural, grammatical, and ethical quality.

In November 2024, I was promoted to a slotter within the Copy Department in recognition of my attention to detail and exceeding quality of work. As a slotter, I am entrusted with the final look on all online stories before publication to The DI's website. As the last pair of eyes on a story, I bare the ultimate responsibility of ensuring that the content on our publication's website represents the organization's commitment to factuality, newsworthiness, and ethical responsibility. I take a conservative approach to slot edits, whereby I diligently double-check the work of my peers and conduct research of my own to check facts and assertions within each story. Secondarily, I am responsible for SEO (search engine optimization) on each story that I slot edit and that each story is properly formatted to appear in the correct sections on the website. These tasks all require immense attention to detail with the goal of an irreproachable end product.

While working at The DI, I have also had the privilege of contributing to our publication as a writer.
