Identity and Home

As an artist, my work explores the dynamic between imagination and what is visible to the eye. I aim to create portraits that challenge viewers to contemplate how gender and racial biases shape our perception of the world around us. Through my mixed media portraiture, I create visually striking and imaginative identities that also encourage critical reflection on the ways in which biases intersect and impact individuals' lives. My portraits represent imaginary people, shaped by their stories, emphasizing the idea that we are all unique individuals, more than what meets the eye.

My interest in the impact of post-colonialism on our world and art motivates me to use diverse media, including text, collage, and paint, to create multi-layered pieces that bridge imagination and reality. I seek to challenge conventional notions of identity and belonging by celebrating the diversity of my subjects and incorporating elements of their cultural heritage and history into my art.

I aim to inspire viewers to consider how gender and racial biases influence our society and encourage them to work towards dismantling systems of inequality. My art serves as a platform for dialogue and change, amplifying the voices and experiences of marginalized communities. Ultimately, my work is a medium for awareness, change, and a celebration of the resilience and triumphs of women and marginalized communities. I believe that seeing people from the heart, not just with the eyes, allows us to appreciate the richness of their stories and experiences.

I have been featured in publications and magazines such as Forbes, Maake magazine, Artmarket magazine and have exhibited in museums and galleries including the De Young Museum, San Francisco International Airport, UCSF Women's Hospital, San Mateo City Hall, San Mateo Library, Museum of Northern California, Gallery Route One and Brown University.
