Aessan Battleship
I'm tempted to make the Aessans organize like a hive though this seems to me too cliché for an insectoid creature. I am therefore at present undecided on how Aessans are organized.
Social Structure
The Aessans are a species of small insect-like intelligent creatures. Their exact appearance is uncertain, though they are able to fly. Though they do have an exoskeleton, their wings are more reminiscent of bat wings than earthly insect wings - leathery with finger-like appendages for structure. They are about 3 feet in height, and evolved on a lower-than-earth-gravity world allowing such large, flying, exo-skeletal creatures to evolve.

Diplomacy
Aessans are fairly agreeable creatures capable of exercising civilized diplomacy with other races.
Aessans are diplomatically important as they provided territory for the Hyperbeing Dominion along their border with the Acidians, with the promise that the Hyperbeings would help defend against Acidian attempts to invade Aessan territory.
Space Flight / Technology
Aessan spacecraft are mainly vertical in design and the interiors are optimized for a flight-capable species. Aessan's primarily use sustained plasma energy beams for weaponry
Conception and Development
I originally came up with the idea of the Aessans in an attempt to populate the universe with more alien species. The Acidians and Ceruleans were also created alongside the Aessans for this purpose.
