Security concept for field work

The hydro group has a security and emergency concept that goes beyond the standards of GIUB for field, please make sure you get a copy before you go the first time to the field. For every new field site and every new person, a risk assessment has to be completed.

Note on Traveling and Reimbursement of Costs

Starting 2023, we have to book our trips (train, flights) via the Uni Bern travel platform and train trips in Switzerland via the SBB account (if you have no Swisspass: first create a Swisspass login,  official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymvEm4sBIo8 , next create your Business account, pdf instructions Uni Bern here)

ATTENTION: never use the travel platform to book your hotel, this is most likely too expensive.  

Many of us do not have specific travel money from a dedicated research project. These travel costs have to be covered by the general budget of the group. 

Nothing can be reimbursed without bill or e.g. public transport ticket. As a general rule, we, in the hydrology group, do not reimburse daily allowances for food. If you book a hotel, do not forget to include breakfast. As a general rule, we do not reimburse additional breakfast or lunch costs, except if they are arguably higher than at home. We reimburse diner at a reasonable rate.  If you foresee any unusual expenses, do not forget to discuss beforehand.

A rough budget for a conference in Europe for 5 nights: hotel 125 per night, conference subscription plus abstract fees 350, diner 25 per evening, travel 500, gives 1600 Euro.
