5th Team Meeting: 20th January 2024- notes taken by Sujan
Minutes from Cottbus:
1. Working from parts to whole. Check for sub-catchments with complete data, try to calibrate the sub-catchments first.
2. Comparing data using Nash Sutcliff efficiency, peak discharge, time of peak, retention time etc
3. Play with Tlag, CN
4. Flood was caused in part due to damming of rivers with trees and plants and its outburst caused the flash flood. We cant prove it from the model, but we can give the physics behind this
4th Team Meeting: 20th January 2024- notes taken by Sujan
ask distribution:
Cottbus- attempts of model calibration for different scenarios and sub-basins
Newcastle- analysis of the spatial rainfall distribution to model results
=====> change rainfall values ( turning on and off) at various gauge stations)
Nice- analysis of the temporal rainfall distribution to model results
=====>total rainfall spread across different times (2hr, 4hr, 6hr...24hrs)
Nice- analysis of the catchment storage potential
(relationship total and effective rainfall, outflow) (To be discussed with Frank)
Newcastle- hydrological characteristic of the catchment in comparison
to another catchment (To be discussed with Frank)
3rd Team Meeting: 23rd December 2023- notes taken by Sujan
Every team will do the sensitivity analysis.
-Sub-basin 1: Nice
-Sub-basin 2: Newcastle
-Sub-basin 3: Cottbus
The sensitivity analysis will give a broad idea about how the model reacts to the change in CN, Tlag, Time-resolution
By 3rd of January, we will try to complete the sensitivity analysis
If in case the sensitivity analysis is not done by January 3rd, the respective team will report to this group so that the other teams can perform the analysis
After sensitivity analysis, each group can try to calibrate the models based on normal rainfall-time series or calibrate the model for a flood event
2nd Team Meeting : 01 Dec 2023 - notes taken by Sujan
• Wrap up the background study of the catchment area : Newcastle students
• Create a report about the delination procedure and results and upload the geodatabase on the website : Cottbus students
• Try the catchment delineation, update minor details in the website : UCA students
• Next internal meeting: 10 AM CET / 9 AM Newcastle time (08/12/2024, Friday)
1st Team Meeting : 24 Nov 2023 - notes taken by Touhid
• Information collection on the study area: Michael, Popy, Adam (NU).
• Catchment Delineation: Sujan, Touhid (Cottbus)
• Web page modification (come up with a plan on how we can organize the web page, adding team rules and general things): Students from UCA and others (not sure if there is anyone from Belgium or Warsaw).
• Please include your name in the team member list (if you haven’t done it already).
• Next internal meeting: 7-8 PM CET / 6-7 PM Newcastle time (01/12/2024, Friday)
1st Meeting : 24 Nov 2023 (with professor) - notes taken by Touhid
• Create a concept/methodology in your team and do it. There are no step-by-step rules or concrete rules to follow. You’ll have to create your own concept and go for it.
• Task: Catchment identification and delineation (within the next two weeks). If you want, you can start the soil data too!
• Next meeting with the professor: 8th Dec 2023, 10 AM CET
