Flight 93 Memorial:
NOTE: There is walking on hard surfaces at the Flight 93 Memorial.
Commemorates the heroic deeds of the 40 passengers and crew on United Airlines Flight 93.
The Visitor Center has extensive exhibits surrounding Flight 93 on the morning of September 11.
The Wall of Names features 40 8-feet-tall white marble panels, each containing the name of a hero on Flight 93.
The black granite walkway is aligned with the aircraft’s flight path before it crashed.
Bedford, Pennsylvania and check in at the Fairfield Inn.
Jean Bonnet Tavern for dinner.
Built in 1762, features the original native stone walls, massive fireplaces and chestnut beams.
In addition to the restaurant there are four sleeping rooms on the third floor.

Gettysburg Museum of the American Civil War
Items from one of the largest collection of Civil War museum pieces in the world.
Artifacts from the Battle of Gettysburg, inter-active exhibits and multi-media presentations cover the conflict from beginning to end.
Film - “A New Birth of Freedom, narrated by Morgan Freeman, provides an orientation to Battle of Gettysburg and its place in the 4-year Civil War.
Cyclorama Painting measures 377 feet in circumference and 42 feet tall.
The oil painting, along with light and sound effects, immerses visitors in the fury of Pickett’s Charge during the third, and final, day of the Battle of Gettysburg.
There will be time to browse the bookstore and gift shop before we depart for lunch.
Dobbin House for lunch.
Built in 1776 by Presbyterian minister Reverend Alexander Dobbin
was both a family dwelling and a Classical School, today’s equivalent of a combined theological seminary and a liberal arts college.
Today the home is virtually the same as it was over 200 years ago.
Native stone walls, seven fireplaces and hand carved woodwork have been restored.
Many of the home’s antique furnishings are identical to those listed in Rev. Dobbin’s estate inventory.
The china and flatware exactly match fragments which were unearthed during the excavation of the cellar.
Licensed Battlefield Guide boards our motorcoach for a two-hour driving tour of the battlefield.
NOTE FROM LEW: In my 44 years in the tour business, the Gettysburg Licensed Battlefield Guides are the absolute best guides I have ever used.
Return to the Visitor’s Center for a last-minute visit to the gift shop.

This morning we travel to Fallingwater, the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece.

NOTE: WALKING CONSIDERATIONS
There is considerable walking and standing at Fallingwater.
There is a 1/4 mile gravel path from the visitor’s center to the house with a shuttle service available upon request.
Exterior surfaces at the house are paved but generally wet and slippery.
Interior surfaces are solid and dry.
Inside the house there are several steps.

The parking lot and walkway to the restaurant are gravel.
Near the restaurant entrance the walkway is paved.

The home was built as a summer retreat for Edgar Kaufmann, owner of the Kaufmann Department Store in Pittsburgh, and his wife.
Built in 1935 of reinforced concrete and native stone, the home blends in with the surrounding mountain terrain.
One-hour guided tour of the home plus have time to visit the gift shop.

Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in
German Village, Columbus, OH
After breakfast at the hotel we start our journey home.
Lunch: Columbus, Ohio at Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in German Village.
After lunch there will be time for shopping in the meat market before we continue our journey to Hoosier Village.

Lunch in Columbus, Ohio at Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in German Village.
J. Fred Schmidt immigrated from Germany in 1886 and opened a meat packing plant in what is now German Village.
J. Fred’s grandson, George, opened the restaurant around the corner from the meat packing plant in 1967.
Today the day-to-day operation of the meat packing plant and Sausage Haus are run by the fourth and fifth generations of the Schmidt family.
After lunch there will be time for shopping in the meat market before we continue our journey to Hoosier Village.
Anticipated arrival time at Hoosier Village js 6:00pm.
