• Dates from 1797 and today has 1,200 residents. 

  • • USA Today has said Augusta is the “Most Picturesque City in Kentucky.” 

• Rosemary Clooney was born and raised in Maysville, Kentucky, about 20 miles up river from Augusta. 

  • • Her brother, Nick, and his wife lived in Augusta; 

    • their son, George, graduated from Augusta High School. 

    • Rosemary spent the last 20 years of her life living in a river-front home, which we will see as we travel in Augusta.

Ohio River 

• Winds 981 miles as it makes its way from Pittsburgh to Cairo where it empties into the Mississippi River

Cruise 45 miles (one-way) on the 600-seat paddlewheel boat Belle of Cincinnati

• The Belle has three climate-controlled decks with rest rooms on each deck. 

• Each deck is accessible by elevator and stairs. 

• The fourth deck is open-air and accessible by stairs only.

• While we are cruising our motorcoach will travel empty to the BB Riverboats dock in Newport, KY and await our arrival.

An overview of the cruise

• Soon after departing Augusta we pass through the locks at the Meldahl Dam. 

• Dinner buffet which includes:

  • • Tossed Salad with Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Red Onions and served with Ranch or Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing, Roasted Chicken, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Whipped Potatoes, Fresh Seasonal Vegetables, New York Cheesecake, Coffee and Tea.

• A full bar is available to purchase soft and alcoholic drinks.

• Arrival at the BB Riverboats dock in Newport, KY 

  • • Is about one hour after sunset which means we will enjoy the lights of metropolitan Cincinnati as we near the city.

    • Upon arrival at the BB Riverboats dock, we board our motorcoach for the return trip to Hoosier Village.
