Here I discuss recent research on the end of the Maltese 'Temple Period', i.e. the transition from late Neolithic to the Bronze Age. Was there an environmental crisis? Did new populations arrive in the islands? Many such questions have been asked.
Here I discuss the evidence for human populations in Saudi Arabia over the last 400,000 years and consider their wider significance in understanding human evolution and prehistory. These populations repeatedly pulsed into the Arabian peninsula during period wet phases, and then seemingly contracted to the south and became isolated.
A short talk I gave in early 2024 on the Neanderthals. Who were they? How do we know about them? What implications does this have for how we think about humans today? These are some of the questions I consider here.
