The Hurricane Boxing Foundation
In June of 2018 a small group from team Hurricane travelled to Liberia, West Africa to break ground on an initiative which had been a year in the works. The goal was to teach boxing to children in the capital city of Monrovia and the rural village of Gbanga, through Christ Children’s Home, an orphanage established to rehabilitate children impacted by a gruesome and tragic civil war. What team Hurricane found there was a nation of young people with nothing and no one to help them get ahead in the world, working each day to support each other. The team was so impacted by their efforts there, they were inspired to bring home the lessons they learned and taught, to reach out to struggling children in Charleston and the Lowcountry, as well as nationally and abroad.
There are thousands of children in the Lowcountry who face difficult odds, who could benefit from the countless life skills which can be learned through play and sport, specifically boxing. The mission of the Hurricane Boxing Foundation is this: Through boxing, to teach respect for self and others, character development, and resilience to underprivileged children locally and abroad. Thank you for your selfless contribution to this effort.
