Through boxing to teach respect for self and others, character development and resilience to underprivileged children locally and abroad.
What the Hurricane Boxing Foundation Provides
● Year-round classes: 2-4 times a week
● Boxing Equipment: Gloves/Wraps for every Child Non-Competitive Child
● Thanksgiving Turkey and Grocery Store Gift Card
● Christmas Present for Each Child and a Present that the Child Picks for a Caregiver
● Summer Academic Contests/ STEM Challenges with restaurant gift cards for
participants
● Summer Camp at Hurricane Boxing
● Winter Hurricane Sweatshirt
● Summer Field Trips (Past have included US Whitewater Rafting Center and skiing)
● Fall Team Building (i.e. Challenge Course at County Park)
● School Supplies/Book Bag each Fall
● Protective Gear (Headgear, mouthguard, groin protector, and uniform)
● USA Boxing Registration for Competitive Children
● Hotels for Competitive Children with Away Competitions
● Emergency Supplies for Families (beds, food, school clothes)
Through teaching boxing, children are taught life skills by:
A Safe Space- To provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere for children to learn a new skill.
Character Development- To teach the importance of respect, discipline, and determination and to illustrate how these characteristics are important in the sport of boxing and in life.
Emotional Control- To teach the importance of not resolving one's problems with violence and instilling the discipline and courage involved in walking away from confrontation.
Responsibility- To teach children that their actions have consequences.
Self Worth - To teach students that they all have value and talents.
Fitness - To teach healthy living habits and to improve reaction time, coordination, and strength.
