Michele Zablan-Weaver: Everything for a Reason

By NELLIAN MCENROE-MARINAS

To me, adversity is struggles and difficulties. Everybody faces them. I have faced lots of adversity in my 13 years of life. My grandma passed away when I was 3 and the funny thing is, I don’t remember her all that well. I’ve heard stories from my dad that states she was an incredible person. She would always put people before herself, and even helping people in any way that she can. Her name was Blossom. There are very few people in the world who were like her. She was a unique person with an awesome personality.

Mrs. Weaver has been through a lot. She left her other job at Our Lady of Good Counsel. She left her other job because Auli’i was coming to Saint Francis and she thought it only made sense for her to come here too because she would be dropping off Auli’i for school. She worked there for a long time and decided to leave to come to our school. One of the greatest struggles she been through was when her mom passed away. Her mom passed but she also sent a baby on her way. The baby, that’s Auli’i. Mrs. Weaver said that when Auli’i was about 2, Mrs.Weaver's mother passed away. Also, Mrs. Weaver said that Auli’i is the youngest.

“I guess with being the youngest, I can't say she's my favorite but, um, I don't know. So, she came into my life. Um, I'm so thankful I had her. My two older kids were 10 and 11 and when I had her I didn't know that my mom was gonna get sick. So my mom actually passed away when (Auli’i) was just 2 so I think had I not had her in my life, I don't know what I would've done.”
