Creative Art - the stories inside medical students - South Korea

Professor and Vice Dean for Education Affairs, Chung-Ang University, Seoul, South Korea visiting QMUL, took creative enquiry back home with him - he wrote:

I have been experiencing ' creative art' with my students for 2 years, which is the first in South Korea. The response from the students is amazing and I really want to share my feelings and their changes with you. This year, we already have produced 14 arts including painting, knitting, architecture, something using hand shadowing... (2015)

The Professor runs an annual art exhibition which he says many educators look forward to, asking ‘what will the message be, how will it be delivered?’

As I told you, my students can explore the journey of ill patients through creative art.

What the patients want, how they feel,….

And then students also express and give their feelings and empathy to the patients thought the creative art.

As older doctors like me, they get deeply moved

and the can reflect their lives so that they recognize their lives is inclined to work and just cure, not caring for patients

Many educators around me are looking forward to my students’ art every year.

First picture: my students want to express patient doctor relationship has ambilaterality. Sometimes, they feel close facing each other.

But at the other side of light, they stand with each other on their back.

Second picture: the students try to the entire of patient’s healing process.

At first, they make a difference of opinion and speak out each other.

But time goes, they end up understanding each other and getting friendship
