Note: For undergraduates interested in working in the HR Lab, please email the lab manager, Heather (hkumove@umass.edu)
Undergraduate research assistants work on a number of different tasks in the lab such as:
Conducting experiment sessions
Collecting data
Attending lab meetings to discuss research projects
Entering data into statistical programs and assisting with data analysis
Providing feedback and suggestions on survey and study materials
Conducting literature reviews and organizing article databases
Reading literature and summarizing journal articles
We are especially interested in recruiting undergraduate research assistants who:
Would like to work in the lab for at least one academic year
Have some basic knowledge of research methodology and statistics
Would be interested to conduct independent research/Honors thesis and/or present findings at conferences.
Undergraduate assistants are a very important part of our lab and being a research assistant is a great experience for anyone considering attending graduate school or pursuing a career in research. We hope that you will consider working with us! Please note that to be eligible, we consider applicants who have already completed PSYCH 241 and 240 (Stats and Methods).
For those interested in working with Dr. Lickel, contact him at blickel@umass.edu.Â
If you are interested in applying to work as a PhD student in the lab, you should review the information about the Social Psychology program and the Psychology of Peace and Violence program at UMass Amherst.
We have a thriving program here and provide outstanding training in empirical research related to intergroup conflict and reconciliation.
